Trade Ideas: EMN, MWE, CYT, DJP vs AVX, CRR

My family and I are in the middle of our move back to Ireland, so bit by bit we get rid of stuff I need to keep myself connected - today was the TV (I am currently surrounded by an assortment of kitchen paraphenlia, trinkets, and to-do lists). I am clinging on to my wireless but this could be gone by the weekend in our yard sale. By next week the blog may be dark for a few days. I hope to get things back to temporary normality in August as we stop in Washington for a few weeks before the final leg to Ireland. Our departure from sunny Hawaii is August 5th, so I will not be doing a Stockcharts summary this week (the farewell barbecue hosted by our neighbours) or next (pre-flight/last minute stuff). Traveling with a 9-month old for 14 hours will not be a ball of fun. But buying first class tickets from Honolulu to Dulles for $600 on Expedia is priceless. Given the flights go for $2,500+ I am sure some will be not to pleased to see a baby in first class - but I suppose its the ol' what

Bye Bye rally...

Trade Mike made a good point about the oversold nature of this drop. The Trade Ideas scan had been showing similar lackluster buying. The Russell 2000 has to have some good short term potential - if only to take it back to the 200-day MA: The Nasdaq is loitering near support and could have merits here. Moneyflow remains interesting: Apologies for the light posting over the last couple of days as I prepare for the Ph.D. defence of a student. Fallond

Collective2: GMKT out

The prior increase in equity exposure from 20% to 40% is no more. Gmarket Inc ( GMKT ) sliced through the stop price to exit the 400 share lot for a -$492 loss ( -4.9% ). Three positions remain in the portfolio with a combined equity exposure of 30% (70% cash). Collective2

Big bearish sweep but it likely has set up a good short term (1-day) buying opportunity. The weakest of the indices, the Russell 2000, is showing the heaviest loss. Watch how it acts at the 200-day MA: The Trade Ideas scan was not surprisingly slow (although it gave a nice heads up yesterday when buying was also light): the "Top-8" picks came in at a 1 hour 30 minutes with only 2 stocks making the cut for the "20-appearance" list: If you would like to try a full version of the Trade-Ideas software, follow this link for a free 7-day trial. It was a so-so day for the markets with a bullish bias on light volume. The Trade Ideas scan was not so bullish with a "Top-8" pick list selected in 31 minutes and a "20-appearance" list done in 4 hours and 10 minutes . Typical action for a slow day. Stockcharts.com Weekly review

Bears brought the week down after the previous week's solid gains. The damage wasn't enough to reverse the prior week's bull buying so what had the Stockcharters got to say about it? This is a shortened list as few posters have updated their charts in recent weeks: Dr. Joe opens with his Dow Industrial chart - but again has not marked in his 'sell' trigger for full stochastics: His Euro/Dollar index finally shows the breakdown in the dollar: Although there is still monthly support for the dollar: Robert New is trackinig the 10-year yield - still stuck under resistance: Although the 20+ year Treasury Bond Fund looks ready to advance: For the NYSE Robert is looking for 10,400: Richard Lehman again summarizes nicely: 7/21 -- A number of short term upchannels have been broken, though notably, the QQQ upchannel remains intact. Downchannels are not terribly steep yet, but momentum in the short term has ebbed and is heading downward. ST downchannel lines are prelimina

Weekly summary

Friday's action handed the week's action to the bears. However, the prevailing trend is bullish and indices still have support to look too. The Russell 2000 tested May-June support and is well placed for a bounce on Monday (stops on break of support): Large caps took 1% hits on Friday, but money flow for each is on the rise. The S&P was able to meet its projected target from the February-April correction: While the Nasdaq has been riding the good fortune of semi-conductors and has the strongest money flow. The projected target fell a few points short but it looks as good as met: Next week is another week. Can bulls re-assert the trend or will a larger sideways pattern unfold? Fallond

Bulls gapped up on higher tech volume, but were unable to push further gains beyond the open. Google ( GOOG ) earnings will likely dampen things tomorrow but bulls can be pleased last Thursday's gains have held up to bearish pressure. Small caps retained 856 resistance. The Trade Ideas scan was a little slower than yesterday. The top-8 picks came in at 4 minutes , while the 20-appearance stocks were selected in 20 minutes . Reasonably bullish. A mixed day for the markets; a weak open continued downward until bulls kicked it up into the close. The breakdown gap and higher volume hands the honors to the bears, but there is plenty of support below. This level of support was reflected in the Trade Ideas scan which was very bullish; the top-8 pick list was done in under a minute and the 20-appearance list in a very bullish 9 minutes . The day may not have seen much movement in the parent indices, but the semi-conductors were on the rip. This is good news for the Nasdaq and Nasdaq 100 which were only able to post minor gains today. The Trade Ideas scan was disappointing. The top-8 picks were selected in a sluggish 19 minutes with a "20-appearance list covering a more respectable 50 minutes . The first block of four stocks were pulled from the top-8 pick list and featured into the close of business. The last four were picked from the 20-appearance scan: If you would like to try a full version of the Trade-Ideas software, follow this link for a free 7-day trial. A big week for the indices as bulls pushed markets to new highs. What had the Stockcharters to say about it all? Dr. Joe opened his list with a weekly summary: and his leading Dow chart: He has an interesting chart for the Euro Index (first I have seen this from him). Will the breakout in the Euro Index lead a downward break in the US Dollar? His Bullish percent / Nasdaq combo chart is also a good one: Matthew Frailey leads off with the long term 30-year bond price chart; support holding: With the 10-year yield bumping along just under resistance: Will his wave count come to fruition? Mitchell Meana is showing something similar for the Diamonds ( DIA ): Richard Lehman was surprised by the action: 7/12 -- Holy heck, Batman!! Most of the charts are still intact, albeit with some adjustments. But some, like the short term Dow here, simply defy explanation right now from a technical perspective. Can't imagine there are very many short players left standing. 7/11 -pm- Today's re

Two new loans to bring the total up to 19 active loans. One is a repayment which I have recycled back into the pool. The second loan is a portion of an annual membership payment courtesy of D. Brignoni. A complete list of member supported loans can be found here . KIVA

A big surge in the markets, ending consolidations in large caps while pushing new highs in Tech markets also pushed the Trade Ideas to bullish extremes. The "Top-8" pick list was selected well inside a minute (there were some 33 stocks picked by the scan over this time frame). The "20-appearance" list was similarly done inside a minute .
