Collective2: New monthly charge: $19.95 per profitable month

Image
To bring membership costs in line with my newsletter subscription I have reduced the cost of subscribing to my Collective2 portfolio from $49.95 per month to $19.95. In addition, Collective2 Subscribers will be eligible to receive my newsletter at no extra cost. Charges are only made for months in which the portfolio is profitable (as calculated by Collective2.com). The Collective2 portfolio is a test system utilizing stock picks featured on my blog and in my newsletter. The portfolio also utlizes my recommended money management system and all positions feature stop and target prices. The system does not compound gains and is based on implementing individual trades in the $5-15K range. Sample trade comments available to Subscribers: Collective2

A small loss on what was played as a relatively tight stop. The 100 share lot closed for a -$171 loss . Collective2

The semiconductors felt the most pain which filtered through to the Tech averages, enough so to drop below "W"-support intraday before buyers stepped in to bid the market back up. The Dow is the index struggling the most as it barely nudged back to "W"-bottom support: The Russell 2000 is the strongest index; the only one to hold its 50-day MA: The Trade Ideas scan was relatively brisk; the top 8 stocks covered a time span of 2 minutes ; so as the market retreats the rate of broad stock buying increases. However, the "20-appearance" list was light on candidates with only two picks which covered the course of the day: If you would like to try a full version of the Trade-Ideas software, follow this link for a free 7-day trial. Three days of losses undercut near term support and knocked out the stop. The 300 share lot closed for a -$542 loss. Dana Shipping looks to be shaping a double top - no need to hang around this one. These are testing times for stocks. Collective2

The bears put greater pressure on the "W"-bottom with little in the way of squeeze room to the downside. The Trade Ideas scan was better than yesterday (an indication of demand at support??) with 8 picks coming in at 4 minutes . The 8 picks hitting the "20-appearance" mark covered 4 hours and 44 minutes . If you would like to try a full version of the Trade-Ideas software, follow this link for a free 7-day trial. Bulls did a good job on Monday bringing the markets back to (and above) their closing price. Those same bulls were absent today, but with the "W"-bottom in play there is still plenty of support below. The Trade Ideas scan was quieter; the top 8 picks covered 7 minutes , with only 4 stocks breaking through the "20-hit" list: If you would like to try a full version of the Trade-Ideas software, follow this link for a free 7-day trial. Weekly Stockcharts.com Review

Image
There was a bit more to last weeks action after my St. Patrick's day hiatus. What had the Stockcharters got to say about it: Joe Reed has a good chart showing possible defensive issues to consider when markets are in the in process of topping. Can't say for sure he called it, but this is what he had to say on the Dow Jones top (check my past reviews for confirmation): In his defense, I do like his Fibonacci retracement marked on the NYSE: Following on from this, Ted Burge has a good support/resistance chart for the NYSE. Note the pinpoint resistance line currently rested at 9,358 with support at 9,148: Ted's semiconductor index suggests resistance is not to be found until 149.6: While the Qs knock around $44.10 support with $45.12 resistance to aim for: Matthew Frailey has taken a more negative tone. Looking for an A-B-C correction in the S&P, but this is a wave 4 of a larger five wave pattern. His bullish percents point to the low in the S&P: But not in the Na

Another tick error has resulted in a beneficial trade. It may still turn out to be a profitable trade - but the fill at "$16.40" probably should have been "$18.40". If this makes it to $19.51 it will confirm the +$1,135 profit on a 500 share lot. The stop goes at $18.03. The stock closed at $18.75 for a +4.75% gain. I have reduced the cash exposure from it's prior 100% to about 55% in light of the short term bullish conditions as confirmed by the week's "W"-bottom. Collective2

Just a brief note to add the most recent 8 picks covered 9 minutes with the "20-appearance" list coming in at 39 minutes . A slower overall market, but particular stocks performed strongly. February Newsletter performance

Image
February demonstrated an entirely different picture to last month's performance review . Under normal circumstances my newsletter performance is based on suggested stop and targeted prices, but this review looks at a fixed risk and 3:1 reward to risk. The overall return saw substantial pain on the 8% risk with an overall return of -4.54% per trade. Best performance came on 2% risk with an average return of +0.84% . Breaking the performance by Subscriber stocks and Free picks saw a slight edge for the Subscriber picks, with the exception of 2% risk where the Free picks significantly outperformed. Technicals were mixed. The MACD trigger 'buy' signal underperformed stocks where the MACD signal was given. Twenty-six percent (26%) of the stocks had a MACD trigger 'buy': Whereas an on-balance-volume breakout saw improved performance across the board. Sixty-five (65%) of stocks were supported by a resistance breakout in on-balance-volume: Seventy-nine (79%) of stocks we

Markets took a breather with minor changes in the indices. Only the semiconductor index gave up the bulk of yesterday's gains, which is worrying for the Nasdaq and Nasdaq 100. The Trade Ideas scan slowed a little with 8 picks covering a time span of 3 minutes - still well inside bullish territory. The "20-appearance" list was slower, coming in at 3 hours and 15 minutes . Tech, small cap and S&P indices are on their way to confirming a "W"-bottom. The bullish tone extended to the Trade Ideas scan; 8 picks covered a time span of 5 minutes , with the "20-appearance" list covering 7 minutes . Bulls took advantage of the tension built from Friday's narrow range to push the markets higher, but volume disappointed; the real money kept their guns quiet today. The Trade Ideas scan was brish; 8 picks covered a time span of 2 minutes , with the 20-appearance list featured below covering a respectable 13 minutes . Fallondpicks.com weekly review

A St. Patrick's Day Boccoe tournament meant there is no Stockcharts.com review for this week. Other than Friday's higher volume there wasn't much to add to the week. A retest of last week's lows looks most likely for this week. Swing traders have perhaps the most benefit given the relatively tight trading - trade break of highs/lows and place a stop at the opposite end of Friday's range. Given stochastics just stepped above oversold levels the significance of the bearish cover / bearish engulfing candlesticks created by Friday's close in the markets is reduced. The higher volume is a bigger concern for the likes of the NASDAQ, Dow, NASDAQ 100, and S&P as it ranked as a technical distribution day. Relative strength switched back (again!) to a more bearish alignment - the fourth such change in a row {Tech indices > Large caps > Small caps}. Tech market internals [$NASI, $NAA50 and $BPCOMPQ] were consistent and continued to decline. The $NASI has some 750

Trade Ideas January performance

Image
Previously, I had analyzed the January return of my newsletter picks based on using fixed % risk, looking for a 3:1 return. But what about the returns for the Trade Ideas picks featured on this blog using the same parameters? Plenty of water has passed under the bridge in the last couple of weeks! So I have updated the newsletter returns to account for the market decline and compared it to the Trade Ideas picks for the month of January. The returns posted are for closed trades only. So first up is the current percentage of open trades based on the risk parameters I have set? My newsletter picks (n=84): 1% risk: All trades closed 2% risk: All trades closed 5% risk: 25% of trades open 8% risk: 45% of trades open Trade Ideas picks (n=57): 1% risk: All trades closed 2% risk: 2% of trades open 5% risk: 39% of trades open 8% risk: 59% of trades open QQQQs return (n=20): 1% risk: All trades closed 2% risk: 35% trades open 5% risk: 70% trades open 8% risk: All trades open Individual stocks w

Another day of mild gains kept markets ticking towards a potential double bottom test. Volume disappointed, so there wasn't a ton of conviction on the behalf of buyers. Interestingly, the rate of buying in the Trade Ideas scan improved; 8 picks covered a time span of 2 minutes ; with 8 picks appearing more than 20 times over the course of the day, requiring 21 minutes . Markets either tagged March lows and held, or ventured down to November 2006 reaction lows and held. The new thing to watch is whether markets can push over Monday's highs and confirm double bottoms? Based on the position of the market internals I would say 'No' - but that doesn't mean its impossible. The Trade Ideas scan was slow given the intraday range to Wednesday's gains; the first 8 picks covered a time span of 23 minutes ; with only 4 stocks making it over the 20-appearance barrier. Bears still call the shots. If you would like to try a full version of the Trade-Ideas software, follow this link for a free 7-day trial. Trade Ideas

The bulls ran out of whatever steam they had as reaction lows were tested. The Trade Ideas scan was considerably slower, but we have yet to see a whitewash of picks often associated with a pivot point in the market; 8 picks covered 2 hr and 36 minutes with only 3 picks breaking the 20-appearance barrier: If you would like to try a full version of the Trade-Ideas software, follow this link for a free 7-day trial. Markets look on track to reach the 20-day MAs/50-day MAs as they enjoyed another round of buying. Unlike previous up days, the level of buying was markedly improved; the Trade Ideas scan took 4 minutes to come up with 8 stocks, with stocks making 20 or more appearances over the course of the day covering a time span of 15 minutes .
