Collective 2: PTNR out

Image
Disappointing to see this one go after an end-of-day stop hit on Wednesday (missing out on today's gains). The play closed for a +$1,050 profit on a 1,000 share lot. The portfolio is down to 2 positions and I will look to add one or two more over the coming days. Collective2

Trade Ideas: DPZ

Image
The Trade Ideas scan was pumping out potential picks in rapid fashion; 8 picks were generated in well under 1 minute . A number of stocks ran in the 40s in terms of appearance frequency. One to make a rapid reversal through the day was Domino's Pizza Group ( DPZ ). The company reported earnings pre-market which caused the stock to gap down - before rising higher throughout the day. Substantial resistance sits at $28.50, but the gains should be enough to reverse the June "Death Cross" between the 50-day and 200-day MAs. Stop placement is hard because of the wide candlestick - cautious players may wish to wait for a narrow-trading bar before entering. The projected target is $36. Domino’s Pizza, Inc., through its subsidiary Domino’s, Inc., operates as a pizza delivery company primarily in the United States. It sells and delivers pizzas under the brand name Domino’s Pizza. As of June 22, 2006, the company operated through a network of 8,079 company-owned and franchise stor

Collective2: ARRY and CMRG out

Image
Two of the remaining five picks were exited on stop hits. Array Biopharma ( ARRY ) failed to push a break of $9, drifting back into its prior consolidation. Didn't want to let this drift further so had set a tight stop. The 1,200 share lot closed for a -$96 loss. Casual Male Retail Group ( CMRG ) has been consolidating for the last 8-days and could find support at the 20-day MA. The intraday dip below what had been support during this consolidation was enough to trigger the set stop. The 1,000 share lot closed for a +$1,770 gain. Trade Ideas: ABK

Bears tried to push the indices down but bulls have managed (so far) to bring them back. Buying from the Trade Ideas scan picked up over previous days; 8 picks covered a times span of 5 minutes . Top of the list was Ambac Financial Group ( ABK ) at 34 appearances. The stock broke 2-month resistance, part of a break from a 5-day handle. MACD 'buy' trigger to support. Sell loss of June-September support. Projected target of $97. Ambac Financial Group, Inc., through its subsidiaries, provides financial guarantee products and financial services to clients in public and private sectors worldwide. The company operates in two segments, Financial Guarantee and Financial Service. The Financial Guarantee segment offers financial guarantees, including structured credit derivatives for public finance, structured finance, and other obligations. Fallond / Trade Ideas / Jim Cramer : October 3rd

For the first time in a long (long) time the weekly performance of my newsletter picks was strong; returning +6.04% on the week - the second best performance from the newsletter picks since February 22nd (and a +7.50% return). The Trade Ideas pick was no slouch either, returning +3.32% with all 8 picks profitable. Unfortunately, there were no picks from Jim Cramer to compare. The market ETFs didn't surprise as they racked up a +2.49% on the week. Best pick was NeoPharm ( NEOL ) at +16.85% . The worst pick was C-Cor ( CCBL ) which made no gains, +0.00% .
